How to install ATI drivers from the command prompt / console/ cmd
If you have errors where the ATI CCC installer crashes, this tutorial should be useful.

In vista, type cmd into the search bar on the start menu and press enter. This should bring up the Command Prompt.

Find the location of the installer on your computer, usually in C:\ATI\SUPPORT. Double click the folder of the driver you want to install, for example, 9_3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu if you want to install CCC 9.3. In that folder, go to Driver then Bin64. Find a file called ATISetup.exe, drag this into the Command Prompt. Your command prompt will now say something like this:
C:\Users\Joe>C:\ATI\SUPPORT\9_3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Bin64\ATISetup.exe

After that, add the following:
-Install -output screen

Your Command Prompt should look something like this:
C:\Users\Joe>C:\ATI\SUPPORT\9_3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Bin64\ATISetup.exe -Install -output screen

If it does, press enter. You will now see loads of dots going up like a progress bar and your screen will flash.
When it has finished, the Command Prompt will await anoter command. You can now close it. You may need to restart your computer.
