How to use incompatible firefox add-ons on the latest Firefox
Some Firefox addons are apparently incompatible with the latest version of Firefox, but you know for a fact they will work. This is a work around for that problem.

Firefox probably won't let you download the .xpi file of the addon you want, so go to the same page in internet explorer and download it with that. Open the .xpi file with WinRAR or something similar. There will be a file called install.rdf.

Open install.rdf with notepad and look for the line that says something like:
<em:maxVersion>3.1b3pre</em:maxVersion>

If you are using a version of firefox later than 3.1b3, for example, 3.5, that addon won't install. So change it to a version higher than your current version, for example:
<em:maxVersion>4.1b3pre</em:maxVersion>

That will work untill Firefox 4.1 is out. Save and close notepad, WinRAR will now come up with a message saying:
File "install.rdf" was modified.
Do you wish to update it in the archive ?

Click Yes and close WinRAR. Drag the .xpi file into FireFox and press Install Now. Once it's installed, you will need to restart Firefox for the addon to work.
